The 2025 summer conference on “The Changing Brain” (August 18-21, 2025), jointly sponsored by the CNCM, Cajal Club and Allen Institute for Brain Science, will be held at the Marriott Irvine (2.6 miles away from UCI) located at, 18000 Von Karman Avenue, Irvine, California, USA, 92612. Additional events will take place on UCI campus. This will be our biggest conference yet with an increased focus on international reach.
The 2025 meeting topics are timely and highly significant. We have planned six sessions: 1) the Evolving Brain, 2) the Developing Brain, 3) the Learning Brain, 4) the Dynamic Brain, 5) States of the Brain, 6) the Disordered Brain. Dr. Liqun Luo is leading the 2025 conference organization, along with Drs. Paola Arlotta, Xiangmin Xu, and Hongkui Zeng. Our confirmed speakers are geographically diverse (US national and international institutions) with a good balance of gender representation.
While the meeting is focused on neural circuit studies in health and disease, it will cover research on the topics of genes, cell types, neural circuits, systems and disorders. The broad community of CNCM members is heavily involved in several NIH-funded programs, including: 1) the NIH’s Brain Research Through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative with its mission to accelerate the development and application of innovative technologies; 2) the NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research that aims to accelerate transformative discoveries in brain function in health, aging, and disease; 3) the 4D Nucleome Consortium that aims to explore the 3D organization of the DNA in the nucleus & how it changes over time; 4) the NIA’s Alzheimer’s Disease Multimodal Atlasing Projects and the MODEL-AD Consortium that develops the next generation of in vivo AD models based on human data. Our meetings have brought together many interdisciplinary leading investigators in cutting-edge research directions. Thus, our conferences offer critical educational opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars at UCI and other US national and international academic institutions. Our annual conferences keep our trainees and junior investigators abreast of the most recent developments in the field and provide professional networking opportunities for them to establish relationships with the leading scientists in the field.
Thus, our conference will be an excellent opportunity for interaction amongst researchers at all career stages. We encourage attendees to submit abstracts, which will be selected for short talks or poster presentations. Abstracts will be included in our conference program book.
Conference registration and abstract submissions are now open!
